What is Massage Therapy?
In today's fast-paced world, it is easy to feel overloaded and overwhelmed. Excess stress creates tension which can lead to illness. It should come as no surprise that some 80% of all disease is stress-related. Our objective is to provide an "ounce of prevention" in a tranquil, elegant and safe environment. Time spent at Serenity is a calming oasis in the midst of our hectic world. Day-to-day pressures, stresses and tensions are evaporated by the warmth of a gentle touch.
Do I have to remove any clothing?
A number of treatments do not require any clothing to be removed (i.e. Matrix RepatterningTM, TheraStoneTM Relaxation - Face/Hands/Feet). Other treatments will require removal of clothing but how much will be decided between you and the therapist. Client comfort and safety always take priority. All treatments can be modified to maintain those standards..
How long are the sessions?
Session lengths are as follows: 30 min, 45 min, 60 min, and 90 min
Can I ask questions?
Open and honest dialog is encouraged and appreciated by the therapist. Questions or concerns may be addressed before, during and after the sessions.
Can I have another person in the room with me?
Yes, in most cases. Your comfort level is most important to us. Please discuss this matter with your therapist.
Do you treat children?
Yes. Our policy, however, is that anyone under the age of 16 must have an adult present in the room throughout the treatment and that the parent also give their signed consent before treatment begins.
Are all your therapists registered? How much experience does my
therapist have?
All therapists at the Body Solution Centre are registered by Ontario Government standards and have a minimum of 2 years experience.
Do you deal with specific health issues or just relaxation?
We deal with both specific health issues and relaxation. Should the therapist see an issue that goes beyond their scope of practice as set out by the law, they will refer you out to the appropriate medical profession (i.e. your personal medical doctor)
Will my insurance cover this?
Yes, in most cases. It is recommended that you review your Extended Health Plan or call your Human Resource department for details.
Will I have to pay up front for my treatments?
Yes. This is due to various types of insurance fraud that has occurred. An official receipt will be issued at the time of the treatment and submitted by the client. Payment from the insurance company to the client is usually done in about two weeks.
Will the treatment hurt?
Not in most cases. How much pain is felt is dependant on the severity of the injury and the type of treatment that is agreed upon. Your therapist will try to avoid causing you pain and will work on a "pain scale of 1-10" to gauge what you are feeling. Assessments will cause some discomfort since their purpose to isolate structures and specifically reproduce the symptoms that you are feeling. Please feel free to tell your therapist of how you are feeling throughout the treatment if necessary.
Can I specify what part of the body my therapist works on or avoids?
Yes. You are in control of the treatment and your therapist will abide by your decisions at the time of consent. Please note, however, that by modifying certain treatments, you may not get full resolution to various problems. You also have the right to revoke your consent and stop the treatment at any time.
Who governs your standarts?
Registered Massage Therapists working in Ontario must conform to the Standards of Practice set out by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. The government requires that standards in the Regulated Health Professions Act 1991 and in the Massage Therapy Act 1991, are both practiced and enforced.
Do you have gift certificates?
Yes. These may be requested on-line and purchased over the phone. Official receipts, however, may only be issued to the client being treated. Please inquire of further details.
