Ricardo
Saikali has been practicing in Mississauga,
ON since 1998 after completing his studies
at Sutherland-Chan College of Massage Therapy
in Toronto, ON. During his studies, he worked
at Lyndhurst Hospital with patients suffering
from spinal cord injuries and Guelph Hospital
in post-operative rehabilitation. Training
was also done at Guelph University Physiotherapy
Centre, resolving a variety of sports related
injuries. Other training has included Pregnancy
Massage and Hydrotherapy.
Over the years, Ricardo has worked in multidisciplinary
rehabilitation settings, along with Chiropractors,
Physiotherapists and Acupuncturists as well
as in relaxation/spa settings, thus having
the experience of the fuller scope of Massage
Therapy.
His active involvement in the Massage Therapy
profession has included being a clinician,
facilitator and trainer at the Ontario Massage
Therapy Conference and designer/educator
of TheraStone™ Massage (Stone Massage Therapy)
as part of the Continuing Education program
for other Registered Massage Therapists under
the College of Massage Therapists in Canada.
Further studies have included: Osteopathic
techniques such as Strain-counter-strain,
Positional Release and Cranial-Sacral techniques,
anatomy dissection, as well as Proprioceptive
Neuromuscular Facilitation. Cutting edge
techniques such as Stone Massage Therapy,
Matrix Repatterning™, and Visceral Manipulation
are also an on-going field of study.
Ricardo is particularly interested in how
massage therapy can aid with chronic pain
issues, especially when it involves myofascial
issues such as Fibromyalgia and chronic pain.
As well, he is further studying and developing
the use of stone massage (hot and cold) so
that it can be integrated in carrying out
a greater and more specific role in myofascial
treatments, whether on its own or as an adjunct
to other modalities. |
